After a basement renovation Silva’s came in for the painting job.  There was no fuss, no muss!  A few specific details were noted and taken care of.
The team, and there WAS a team, worked efficiently and neatly. And even though it was during the holiday season the job was completed in the time promised.

We usually recommend removing it. Paint can soften the paste underneath, which makes seams lift and bubbles form, and the paper texture often shows through. In rare cases where the paper is tightly bonded and removal would ruin the wall, sealing and skim coating over it can work. We will look at your walls and give you an honest recommendation.

What affects the cost of wallpaper removal?

Cost depends on the size of the room, how many layers are on the wall, the type of paper, whether it has been painted over, and how much repair the walls need afterward. Skim coating and drywall repair are often the biggest variables. We see the room in person and give you a free, detailed estimate within 24 hours.

Will removing wallpaper damage my walls?

Some damage is common, especially on drywall that was never primed before the paper went up. That is why repair is part of our job, not an add-on you discover later. We work in small sections to limit tearing, seal any exposed drywall paper, and skim coat and sand the walls so they are smooth before painting.

How messy is wallpaper removal?

It is wet, sticky work, but it does not have to be messy for you. We cover floors and furniture, protect outlets and trim, bag the old paper as we go, and clean the room before we leave each day. Most homeowners keep using the rest of the house normally while we work in one room.

Do I have to empty the room before you strip the wallpaper?

No. We shift furniture to the middle of the room and wrap it before work starts, then set it back when the walls are done. If you have fragile, valuable or very heavy pieces, mention them at the estimate. We can plan around them or ask you to clear those specific items ahead of time.

Can you remove wallpaper in a bathroom or kitchen?
