We had Silva paint the exterior of our house two years ago, and were very pleased with the result. We therefore selected Silva to also paint all the woodwork throughout the interior of our house. That work was also done very well, and with the disruption minimized. (Work in most rooms was completed in one day so we were able to "reinhabit" the room after moving furniture away from the walls and have items covered by drop cloths.) The crew was courteous and efficient, and the cleanup was thorough. We highly recommend Silva painting,

I meant to post this review earlier, but life gets in the way - you know what I mean! After a basement renovation Silva’s came in for the painting job. There was no fuss, no muss! A few specific details were noted and taken care of. The team, and there WAS a team, worked efficiently and neatly. And even though it was during the holiday season the job was completed in the time promised. If you want a great job at a reasonable price and don’t want to worry about details— definitely call Silva’s!!

Excellent company that shows up on time and does not do sloppy work. They did 66 homes in our HOA and our gates to prevent rust. I highly recommend them

Lorenzo and his team painted the exterior of my Tudor in north Flushing. I was so pleased with the work done that I even recommended him to my neighbor, who also has a Tudor. He and his team were reliable, professional and detail oriented. The job done was quite exceptional and Lorenzo is a man who stands by his work.

What’s Included in Our Cabinet Painting

  • Doors and drawer fronts removed, labeled and painted separately
  • Degreasing to remove kitchen grease that stops paint from sticking
  • Sanding and priming with a bonding primer made for cabinets
  • Sprayed finish coats for a smooth surface without brush marks
  • Cabinet boxes and trim painted to match
  • Hardware reinstalled, or swapped for new hardware you choose

Why Prep Decides How Long Cabinets Last

Cabinets are touched every day and wiped down often. Paint over grease or glossy factory finish will chip within months. We clean, scuff and prime every surface so the topcoat bonds and holds up to kitchen life.

Painted or refinished?

Painting works best for a new color or when the wood is worn. If you love the natural grain, our cabinet refinishing service strips and restains instead. We can help you decide at the estimate.

Common Questions

FAQs About Cabinet Painting in New York

How long does cabinet painting take?

Most kitchen cabinet painting projects take about one to two weeks from take-down to rehanging doors. The timeline depends on the number of doors and drawers, the condition of the existing finish, repairs, and the drying and curing time between coats. Bathroom vanities alone go faster. We give you a specific timeline at your free estimate.

Can I use my kitchen while my cabinets are being painted?

Yes, in most cases. The cabinet boxes stay in place, so your dishes and food stay accessible while doors and drawer fronts are being finished. Some areas will be masked during priming and painting of the frames, so plan on simpler meals for a few days. We clean up and keep a clear path every evening.

Will painted kitchen cabinets chip?

Properly prepped and painted cabinets hold up well to daily use. Chipping usually comes from skipped degreasing, no deglossing, the wrong primer, or rushing the cure. We handle each of those steps and use cabinet-grade enamel from Benjamin Moore or Sherwin-Williams. Gentle care during the first few weeks helps the finish reach full hardness.

What affects the cost of cabinet painting?

Cabinet painting cost depends on the number of doors and drawer fronts, the size of the kitchen, the cabinet material and current finish, repairs, grain filling for oak, and whether you add interiors, an island, or vanities. We do not quote flat prices sight unseen. Your free estimate within 24 hours spells it all out.

Can you paint oak cabinets without the grain showing?

Yes. Oak has an open grain that can show through paint as texture. If you want a smoother, more modern look, we can apply a grain filler before priming to minimize it. Some homeowners prefer to keep a little texture. We show you the difference and talk through the options during your estimate.

Should I paint or refinish my wood cabinets?

Paint if you want a new color, like white, green, or navy, or if your cabinets are MDF or a mix of woods. Refinish if you love the wood grain and want to keep it, restaining or clear coating the existing wood instead. We will look at your cabinets and recommend the option that suits them best.
